Key Ingredients
Glucosamine
Glucosamine is clinically proven to support healthy joint function and comfort and supports healthy ageing. Glucosamine Hydrochloride has been clinically proven to be as effective as a prescription medicine for the relief of the symptoms of mild to moderate osteoarthritis. But unlike pharmaceutical medicines that simply manage the symptoms, glucosamine helps to delay the progression of the disease. Furthermore, certain prescription medications have significant side effects.
Selenium and Manganese
Selenium and Manganese are essential minerals. Due to declining amounts of selenium found naturally in soil, it is important to supplement your diet. Selenium acts as a powerful antioxidant whilst manganese is good for bone health and acts as a cofactor in several metabolic and enzymatic reactions.
Scutellaria root
Scutellaria root is a traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) herb and has been added for its antioxidant and healthy-ageing benefits.
Copper
Copper is the third most abundant trace mineral in the body, but it is often deficient in a person’s diet because food sources high in this mineral are not always eaten frequently (such as oysters and liver). Copper works together with iron to make red blood cells and it is the major component of the outer coating of nerve fibres and collagen. Copper is used by the body to manufacture numerous enzymes, many of which work as antioxidants.
Can a person with normal joints benefit from glucosamine supplementation?
Long term maintenance is important to protect the health of your joints. Glucosamine is found in high concentrations in cartilage and other connective tissues. The cartilage producing cells in our body can either synthesise glucosamine themselves or obtain it from circulating preformed glucosamine (supplements). As we age, the body's ability to produce glucosamine decreases. Supplementing with glucosamine hydrochloride may help to repair and rebuild worn or damaged cartilage, associated with osteoarthritis.
Symptoms of osteoarthritis?
Symptoms include pain, swelling, inflammation and stiffness which limits mobility and can impact your daily life. These symptoms are caused when cartilage, the smooth covering over bones in the joints, starts to break down over time and the bones come into contact with one another.
Osteoarthritis is commonly referred to as ‘wear and tear’ arthritis and typically occurs in joints that have been under continued and repetitive use for many years, such as the knees.
